SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Excel ignores the OLEMISC_RECOMPOSEONRESIZE if a server is resized when it is not active.

If a server sets the OLEMISC_RECOMPOSEONRESIZE in its return value from IOleObject::GetMiscStatus, then the container should run the server object and call IOleObject::SetExtent when the server is resized. Microsoft Excel ignores this bit and does not run or notify the server when the object is resized.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
