SYMPTOMS

When you type Cache /Options at the OS/2 command prompt on an HPFS partition, the cache size does not match the size specified on the IFS= line of the CONFIG.SYS file.

CAUSE

You changed the IFS= entry in the CONFIG.SYS file using an OS/2 editor but did not change the CACHEMEM= entry in the [SETUP] section of the SETUP.INI file.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem:

  1. Run LAN Manager Setup (SETUP.EXE) from the \LANMAN directory.
  2. From the Configuration menu, choose Server Settings.
  3. Choose File Sys.
  4. Change the HPFS Cache Size (in KB) and choose OK.
  5. Save the settings and quit LAN Manager Setup.
  6. Reboot the computer.
