The mouse port-compatible Microsoft Mouse may appear to have a defective
connector because two of the pins are missing.
MORE INFORMATION
The Microsoft PS/2 mouse uses the standard 6-pin round mouse port
connector (commonly referred to as a PS/2-style port). Pins two and six
are not used or connected to any circuitry in the mouse and are not
included in the mouse connector.
