Delta for Windows Does Not Work with Windows NTID: Q130884 The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Delta for Windows requires Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or later running in enhanced mode and/or MS-DOS version 5.0 or later. Delta does not work under Windows NT (see the System Requirements in the Introduction section of the Delta User's Guide). This is due to Delta's use of the MSDELTA.386 virtual device driver, a driver not supported by Windows NT. Those attempting to use Delta from the Windows NT command line will find further incompatibilities. Delta does not allow files to be checked in as text. MVMDIFF.EXE is responsible for creating the diff entry and appending it to the diff archive. MVMDIFF.EXE is incompatible with Windows NT. It is possible to bypass the diff process by checking in source code with history specified as full copies. There are no plans to update Microsoft Delta for Windows for use under Windows NT. SourceSafe is available for Windows NT and Windows 95. Additional reference words: 1.00 KBCategory: kbenv KBSubcategory: Delta |
