Hyperlink Field Pastes in Wrong Language |
Q131210
A hyperlink copied from the English version of Word to a foreign language version of Word (French or German, for example) does not change to the correct language when pasted. The drawback to this is that if you then save and close the document without correcting the field code, the hyperlink is lost. By contrast, when pasting a hyperlink from a foreign version of Word to the English version of Word, the field code is translated correctly.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word, version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
After pasting the hyperlink to the foreign language version of Word, you must use the Replace command (Edit menu) to replace the English version of the field contents with the foreign version of the field contents. (NOTE: To replace the contents of a field code, you must first turn on field codes view or choose the HTML Hidden button on the toolbar.)
For example, the following field, copied from the English version of Word, is pasted into the French or German Word with exactly the same syntax:
{{PRIVATE HREF="#bk1"}MACROBUTTON HtmlResAnchor hyperlink}This copied hyperlink should paste as follows:
French: {{PRIVE HREF="#bk1"}BOUTONMACRO HtmlResAnchor hyperlink}
German: {{PRIVAT HREF="#bk1"}MAKROSCHALTFLASCHE HtmlResAnchor hyperlink}
