SYMPTOMS
In Lotus 1-2-3 version 5.0, you can save a file as a Microsoft Excel 4.0
worksheet or workbook. When one of these files is opened in a version of
Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article, the gridlines may
not be displayed. This problem will occur even though the gridlines are
turned on in the View tab of the Options dialog box in Microsoft Excel.
CAUSE
The gridlines are not displayed because the pattern of the Normal Style is
set to the color white.
RESOLUTION
To display the gridlines, you can use the following steps:
- On the Format menu, click Style.
- In the Style dialog box, in the Style Name box, select or type
Normal.
- Click Modify, and then click the Patterns tab.
- Under Color, select No Color (in version 97) or None (in versions
5.0 and 7.0).
- Click OK twice to return to the worksheet.
If the Color in Step 4 is already set to No Color or to None, follow
these steps:
- Under Color, select any color except for No Color or for None.
- Click OK twice to close the Style dialog box.
- Repeat steps 1-5 above.
