SYMPTOMS
When you open a WordPerfect 5.x or 6.x document into Microsoft Word 6.x,
WordPerfect paper size/type settings are retained. However, paper location
(source) settings that can be defined with a paper size (for example, Upper
Tray, Lower Tray, Manual Feed, or Envelope Feed) are not retained.
CAUSE
This information is not included in a WordPerfect document file. Because
you cannot depend on the printer driver or initialization file in which
this information is retained to be available or to be the same driver or
initialization file active at the time of document creation, Word does not
retain these settings.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, change the paper source after converting the
file.
MORE INFORMATION
In WordPerfect 5.x for DOS or WordPerfect 5.x for Windows, when you select
a paper location other than the default, the selection is written to the
current printer driver (.PRS) file if a WordPerfect printer driver is in
use. If a Windows printer driver is in use in WordPerfect 5.x for Windows,
the paper location is written to the WP{WP}.SET initialization file.
In WordPerfect 6.x for Windows, this information is written to the Win.ini
file in the Windows directory.
WordPerfect is manufactured by Corel Corporation, a vendor independent of
Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this
product's performance or reliability.
