Microsoft Word does not support conversion of Word 6.0 document templates
to Word 2.x for Windows.
If you save a Word 6.0 document in Word 2.0 for Windows format, all links
to an attached template are removed.
If you open a Word 6.0 document with an attached template into Word 2.x
for Windows, you will receive the following error message:
If you click OK, Word successfully opens the Word 6.0 document, but the template contents (for example, boilerplate text and macros) are not retained.Word cannot open this document template
The Word 6.0 converter for Word 2.x for Windows and the Word 2.x for Windows converter supplied with Word 6.0 are designed only to read Word 6.0 doc file formats, and not template formats.
No utility exists for converting Word 6.0 templates or macros to Word 2.0
format. To convert macros and other content from Word 6.0 templates for use
in Word 2.0, you must extract template entries into a Word 6.0 document,
convert that document to Word 2.0, and reinsert each template item into a
Word 2.0 template.
In addition, you will likely need to modify the macros because macro syntax
differs significantly, given differences in Word menu structure in the two
Word versions.
