OPP: Word 6 Templates Do Not Appear in Word for Windows 95

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you copy Word 6.x templates to the <MSOFFICE>\TEMPLATES folder, the templates do not appear when you choose New from the File menu. The templates are not under the General tab.


STATUS

This is a known problem with the Office Preview Program release only. It will be fixed in the final version of Word for Windows 95.


WORKAROUND

To force the templates to appear, do the following:

  1. In Explorer, locate the <MSOFFICE>\TEMPLATES folder.


  2. Select a template, and retype its name.


  3. Repeat step 2 for each template.


The "renamed" templates will now appear under the General tab.
