MXL5: Problems Using Spinner to Change Value in Custom Dialog

Last reviewed: September 12, 1996
Article ID: Q132220
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 5.0, 5.0a

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, when you click and hold down the mouse to move a spinner that controls an edit box, label, or text box in a custom dialog box, the value in the associated object (edit box, label, or text box) may not be changed until you release the mouse button.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you create a custom dialog box and display it with a macro. This behavior occurs because of the way the Macintosh interprets mouse actions.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, verify the value in the associated box by clicking the mouse button rather than by pressing it down and holding it.
