WD6X: Tab Stops Lost Opening from RFT-DCA into Word |
Q132253
When you open an RFT-DCA (Revisable Form Text-Document Content
Architecture) document into Word 6.x for Windows or Word 6.x for the
Macintosh, all tab stops set at default 0.5-inch intervals (for example, 4
inches, 4.5 inches, 5 inches, and so on) may be lost.
This problem also occurs when you save a Word document in RFT-DCA format
and reopen it from RFT-DCA format into Word.
During conversion, Word fails to retain the first tab stop in the series; hence, all subsequent tab stops are not retained.
Reset the tab stops following conversion.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the RFT-DCA converter
supplied with Word version 6.x for Windows and Word versions 6.x for the
Macintosh.
This problem does not occur in the 32-bit release of the RFT-DCA converter
supplied with Word 6.0 for Windows NT, Word 7.x or later for Windows, or
Word 98 Macintosh Edition.
The RFT-DCA converter released with Word 6.0 for Windows NT retains the
first of a series of tab stops at default 0.5-inch intervals relative to
the left margin. Only the first tab stop in the series is retained to avoid
unrelated layout issues. This functionality has no adverse effect on
document appearance.
