Bitmap Graphics Inverted When Exporting to WordPerfect 5.x

Q132263

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When a Word document that contains bitmap graphic images (either within simple or OLE pictures) is saved in WordPerfect 5.x format and opened in WordPerfect 5.x for Windows, these images display and print inverted on the X axis or on the X and Y axes.

CAUSE

This may be a problem in WordPerfect 5.x for Windows, given the same images display correctly if the same document is opened from WordPerfect 5.x format into WordPerfect 5.x or 6.x for DOS or WordPerfect 6.x for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

If you are planning to use information from a Word document in WordPerfect 5.1 or 5.2 for Windows, and WordPerfect for Windows is installed on the same system as Word, you can copy the affected bitmap image from Word to the Windows Clipboard and paste it into your converted document in WordPerfect for Windows to replace the inverted version of the image.
