XL5: Print Quality Options Unavailable Using ImageWriter

Last reviewed: September 12, 1996
Article ID: Q132377
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 5.0, 5.0a

SYMPTOMS

When you print a Microsoft Excel document, if you are using an Apple ImageWriter printer driver, the Faster print quality option may be unavailable (dimmed) in the Print dialog box.

Note that Although the Faster option is unavailable, the Best and Draft options are still available.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the Print Quality setting is set to High (the Print Quality setting is located on the Page tab of the Page Setup dialog box). The Print Quality setting is set to High by default.

Because Print Quality is a new setting in version 5.0, you should not encounter this issue in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the Print Quality setting to Normal.
