PRJ4: Actual Start Dates Deleted When Opening MPX file

SYMPTOMS

When you open a previously saved MPX file in Microsoft Project, the Actual Start Dates for some tasks are changed to NA.


CAUSE

When you open an MPX file, Microsoft Project will remove Actual Start dates from any MPX file that meets all of the following criteria:

This problem is caused when Microsoft Project is calculating Stop and Resume dates for the tasks and adding the resource assignments via the MPX importing process.


WORKAROUND

To maintain the actual dates for the tasks, use the following steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.


  2. On the Schedule tab, clear (remove the "x" from) the Split In-Progress Tasks check box.


  3. Click OK.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
