SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, you can use the Menu Editor to remove menu items that you want to be hidden while the workbook is active. However, if you use the Menu Editor with two different workbooks to remove the same menu item from a menubar, the menu item may reappear if you open both workbooks and then close one of the workbooks. For example, if you use the Menu Editor to remove the Hide command from the Window menu for the workbooks Book1.xls and Book2.xls, and you open both Book1.xls and Book2.xls if you then close Book2.xls, the Hide command will reappear on the Window menu even though Book1.xls is still active.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
