Error Message: Already Signed in to The Microsoft Network

SYMPTOMS

When you try to sign in to The Microsoft Network, you may receive the following error message:

   You are already signed in to The Microsoft Network.
   Another computer is signed in under your name. If you suspect
   unauthorized use of your account, please call Customer Service.

CAUSE

This message appears if you try to sign in to The Microsoft Network within approximately ten minutes of being disconnected without going through the standard sign-out procedure. When you do not sign out in the standard way, the TCP/IP connection is not broken immediately.

RESOLUTION

Wait ten minutes and then try to sign in to The Microsoft Network again. If the message continues to appear, call Member Support.
