SYMPTOMS

When a successor task with resources assigned to it has its percent complete calculated by using Microsoft Project's Update Project feature and the resulting percent complete is less than 100 percent, the start date for the successor task is recalculated to the exact finish date of the predecessor task.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods.

• Method 1: Use the following steps to turn off the Split In-Progress Tasks feature before you update your tasks:



1. On the Tools menu, click Options.



2. Click the Schedule tab, clear the Split In-Progress Tasks check box, and choose OK.



• Method 2: Adjust the percent complete on tasks that have both resources and predecessors by some other means, as in the following example:



1. Select the task to be updated.



2. On the Insert menu, click Task Information.



3. In the Percent Complete box, type the appropriate percentage value, and choose OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
