SYMPTOMS

When you use the Print Preview command to display a document that you created in outline view, the document is displayed as if it is in normal view. In Word 97, the full document prints when you print from Print Preview; in Word 7.x, the document prints correctly when you print from Print Preview, even though it does not display correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows 95, versions 7.0 and 7.0a and Word 97 for Windows. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

To print the document in outline format in Word 97, print the document from outline view.
