PRJ4: Characters Incorrectly Displayed with HP Pen Plotter

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you view your project in print preview, some of the text in your project may be displayed incorrectly if you are printing to an HP pen plotter such as DraftMaster II, 7586B or DraftPro EXL.

CAUSE

If you are using the HP pen plotter driver, words that are formatted with Bold formatting are displayed with all of the characters stacked on top of each other. For example, the word "Task" appears as one illegible character; the letters appear on top of each other. In some cases, only the first letter of the word may be displayed. Note that with using the default text styles, this problem affects field headings and timescale text in most views.

This problem does not occur when you run Project 4.0 under Windows or Windows for Workgroups version 3.x.

Note that this is only a problem with the way information is displayed on your screen. Your project is printed correctly even if you are using Bold formatting and the document is displayed incorrectly in print preview.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur in Microsoft Excel or Word using the an HP pen plotter. Additionally, if you insert a Microsoft Project OLE object into a worksheet in Microsoft Excel, the object is displayed correctly in print preview in Microsoft Excel. If you insert a Microsoft Excel OLE object in a project file, the object also is displayed correctly in print preview in Microsoft Project (even though other text in the project may not be displayed correctly).
