PRB: Database Window's New Button Does Not Have Import Option

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you create new objects using the New button in the Database window, only the Tables tab has an option for importing an object. The other tabs (Queries, Forms, Reports, Macros, and Modules) do not have an import option.

RESOLUTION

To import any object (including tables) from another Microsoft Access database, use the Import command on the File menu's Get External Data submenu.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.
Click the Tables tab in the Database window, and then click the New button. Note that you have an Import Table option in the New Table box.
Click the Queries tab, and then click New. Note that you do not have an import option for queries in the New Query box.
