Error Trying to Play RealAudio File Across Internet |
Q135979
When you try to play a RealAudio .ra or .ram file across the Internet, you may receive one of the following three error messages:
Error contacting host, either the server is not responding or is incorrectly specified.
Error in resolving host name.
Cannot play network stream.
Internet Explorer may be configured to work with a proxy or firewall.
RealAudio uses a range of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) stream and
User Datagram Protocol (UDP) datagram ports that must be specially enabled
on the proxy or firewall server by an administrator. To determine if
Windows 95 is configured to use a proxy server, follow these steps:
Proxy servers and firewalls act as security barriers between your internal
network and the Internet, keeping others on the Internet from accessing
information on your internal network.
For information about configuring a proxy or firewall, contact Progressive
Networks.
