SUMMARY

The version of Extract.exe that ships on Disk 1 of Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0, and Microsoft Publisher 97, is the same version that ships with Windows 95, but is not the same version that ships with Microsoft Office for Windows 95, version 7.0.

MORE INFORMATION

Extract is an MS-DOS utility that you can use to decompress individual files from a Cabinet (.cab) file. Microsoft programs that use Cabinet files on their installation disks include Extract.

There are two versions of Extract currently available. The version that comes with Windows 95 has a file size of 46,656 bytes. The version that comes with Office has a file size of 87,916 bytes. Publisher ships the same version as the one that ships with Windows 95.

The only difference between the Office and Windows 95 versions of Extract is that the Windows version was optimized with PKWare's PKLite. Both versions work equally well.
