SYMPTOMS

If you run the Layout Checker on a publication that has a bleed (an object that goes beyond the margin of the page), the object will be highlighted and the following message appears:
Problem:
Object in the printer's nonprinting region

Suggestions:
Move the Object
Delete the Object
Resize the Object
This message appears even if the bleed does not actually extend into the printer's nonprinting region. This behavior may occur if you are making a business card but your printer is set up for letter size paper.

CAUSE

The Layout Checker is designed to check for certain conditions and bring them to your attention. It cannot tell whether you created these conditions on purpose or by accident.

RESOLUTION

If you are using several bleeds on your publication, you can click the Ignore All button when the Layout Checker catches the first one to keep it from flagging the second and subsequent bleeds.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Publisher 98. In Publisher 98 and 97 it is called Design Checker.
