This article was previously published under Q137165

SYMPTOMS

In the Communications tool in Works, if you have an active connection to a service or a file download, this connection slows down the response time of other tasks that may be running simultaneously, such as commands executed at the MS-DOS command prompt, or other programs. This may result in slow keyboard response or slow command execution.

CAUSE

Works keeps track of what occurs during a download. This monitoring uses some system resources, which can slow down the multitasking of other programs.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
