Can't Update Links to a Microsoft Access Query

SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel, when you create a link to a Microsoft Access query,
the query is not updated dynamically. That is, when you change the
query in Microsoft Access, the linked information is not automatically
updated in Microsoft Excel, even if both files are open in memory at
the same time.
CAUSE
Microsoft Excel automatically updates data only in the Microsoft Access
data source (that is, the table the query is built on); it does not
automatically update the query.
WORKAROUND
To update a link from Microsoft Excel to a Microsoft Access query,
close the dependent workbook and then re-open it.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
