Q137327

------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== If you try to print a publication to a file, the Print To File dialog box may be blank. It will not list any available drives or folders. If you type a filename anyway and click OK, you will get the following error: Publisher cannot continue printing because of an error. For more information press F1 now. This error occurs if the current working folder is specified only by a universal naming convention (UNC) path, such as: \\Servername\Share\Folder CAUSE ===== If you import a picture or a text file from a folder specified only by a UNC path, you change the current folder to that network location. When you print to a file, the Print To File dialog box defaults to the current folder. In this scenario, the Print To File dialog box can't get the information it needs and is displayed blank. RESOLUTION ========== When you type the name of the print file you want to create, include the path. Or, you can click the arrow next to the <empty> drive box. This allows you to choose which drive you want to create your print file on. STATUS ====== Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher version 3.0 for Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
