SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Excel, the AutoFilter list may not function as
expected. You can apply the AutoFilter to a list and click the drop-down
arrow to display the unique entries for the chosen field, but you cannot
move to an item in the drop-down list by typing the first letter of the
item. This behavior is different from Microsoft Excel version 5.0.
CAUSE
The addition of the "(Top 10...)" list item prevents you from moving
through the list by typing the first letter of an item.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, use the scroll bar in the drop-down list or
use the ARROW keys on the keyboard to move to the desired location in the
list.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
