PageWizard-Produced Compact Disc Jewel Case Insert Too Small

PageWizard-Produced Compact Disc Jewel Case Insert Too Small

Q137469

------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== If you use the Labels PageWizard Design Assistant to create the insert for a compact disc jewel case and cut out the insert according to the crop marks, it will be too small to exactly fit in a standard jewel case. CAUSE ===== The standard jewel case insert has a folded size of 4.75 by 4.75 inches. The inserts created by the wizard have a folded size of 4.75 by 4.625 inches. RESOLUTION ========== The Labels PageWizard produces three styles of jewel case insert: basic, bold, and jazzy. Basic or Jazzy Styles --------------------- If you use the basic or jazzy styles, the insert will actually be the correct size, but the crop marks will be in the wrong place. You can ignore the marks for horizontal (side-to-side) cropping and use an existing jewel case insert as a cutting guide. Bold Style ---------- The bold style does not have crop marks; it has a black background instead. You can draw two rectangles 4.75-inches tall by .125-inch wide and fill them with black. Place them on the left and right ends of the insert design and line them up top to bottom. Now if you print the insert and cut it out following the edges of the black background, it will fit a standard jewel case. STATUS ====== Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher version 3.0 for Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
