Find File Can't Find WordPerfect, MS Excel, or HPGL Files

SYMPTOMS
========

If you are trying to open a file in Publisher and use the Find File dialog
box, the search will fail if you choose any of the following entries in the
"Find All Files Of This Type" list:

   WordPerfect 6.0 Document: .doc .wpd
   Excel Worksheet: .xls .xlw
   HP Graphics Language: .hgl .hpg .plt

However, if you manually enter the extension of the type of file you are
looking for, the search will succeed.

CAUSE
=====

Publisher's Find File can only search for one file extension at a time. The
aforementioned list entries ask Find File to look for more than one
extension simultaneously.

RESOLUTION
==========

Instead of choosing the file type from the list, type in the extension of
the file you are looking for yourself.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher version 3.0 for
Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
