When you check the grammar in a document, Word hangs (stops responding) and
gives the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor. -or- Winword caused an invalid page fault in module Winword.ExeCAUSE This hang occurs only when the following conditions are true:
STATUS Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows 95, version 7.0. This problem was corrected in Word version 7.0a for Windows 95. To obtain Word for Windows 95 version 7.0a, call the Microsoft Order Desk at (800) 360-7561. If you are outside the United States, contact the Microsoft subsidiary for your area. To locate your subsidiary, call the Microsoft International Sales Information Center at (206) 936-8661.
WORKAROUND Do either of the following to prevent this error message from appearing: Method 1: Turn off the Check Spelling option in the Grammar settings:
a. On the Tools menu, click Options.
b. Click the Grammar tab.
c. Clear the Check Spelling check box.
d. Click OK.
Method 2: Turn on background spell checking:
a. On the Tools menu, click Options.
b. Click the Spelling tab.
c. Select the Automatic Spell Checking check box.
d. Click OK.
