SYMPTOMS
========
If you insert a bitmap (paint-type) graphic onto a page that will print
upside down, the print quality may be very coarse (or the graphic may
not print at all) when you print it to certain printers. The same image
will print nicely on a right-side-up page.
Publication types that include upside-down pages are:
- Top-fold greeting cards
- Side-fold greeting cards
- Tent cards
Printers that are known to exhibit this problem include:
- Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500
- Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet IIP
RESOLUTION
==========
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And
Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete
Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics
in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair
Disk (ERD).
Change the data in the BANDINMEMORY value in the Windows 95 Registry from 0
to 1. This value is located in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Publisher\Printing
To change this value:
1. On the Windows Start menu, click Run.
2. In the Open text box, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks), and
then click OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Publisher\Printing
4. Double-click BANDINMEMORY on the right side of the Registry Editor
window.
5. In the Value Data box, type "1" (without the quotation marks), and then
click OK.
6. On the Registry menu, click Exit.
