The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SYMPTOMS
========
After you run the Outside Print Setup Wizard and choose Spot Color, all of
your imported pictures and OLE objects will appear in black and white, even
if they happen to contain the color(s) that you chose to be your spot
color(s).
CAUSE
=====
When you print in Spot Color mode, you are really only getting black-and-
white output. What makes Spot Color special is that you get a black-and-
white page that contains only the objects you want to print as tints of
black and one or two additional pages that contain only the objects you
want to print in tints or shades of your spot color(s).
RESOLUTION
==========
To make an imported graphic of any kind appear as a spot color, you must
select it and click Recolor on the Format menu. You can now change it to be
the spot color.
MORE INFORMATION
================
Publisher does not determine which of the pages to print each object on by
looking at the raw color data contained in it. It chooses by looking at
what color or fill you have applied to it from within Publisher.
This means that if you insert a WordArt object that is red, and you choose
the spot color for your publication to be red, Publisher won't recognize
the WordArt object as using the spot color until you recolor that object.
