SYMPTOMS

When you click the New button in the data form to create a new record, the focus may not appear to be set correctly, and the insertion point may not appear in the first field's edit box.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods to refresh the screen.

NOTE: These methods assume that you are in the Microsoft Excel data form and that you have clicked the New button to create a new record.

Method 1: Click the edit box of the first field.

Method 2: Press the LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW key on the keyboard.

Method 3: Click Help to display Microsoft Excel Help, and then

          close the Help window.

          Finder again and click Microsoft Excel again to activate it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

A data form provides a simple way to see, change, add, or delete records in a list or database. You can also use a data form to find specific records based on the criteria you specify. A data form displays one record at a time. If you enter or edit data on the data form, Microsoft Excel changes the corresponding cells in the list. When you click the Form command on the Data menu, Microsoft Excel reads your data and displays the data form dialog box.
