PUB3x: Page Fault in Startup Dialog Box if Wizard is Running

SYMPTOMS
========

You can open one of the publications that are used by the PageWizard
Design Assistants from the Publisher Startup dialog box. When you do
this, the PageWizard will start with the Startup dialog box in the
background. If you switch back to the Startup dialog box and try to
create a blank presentation, you may receive the following error:

   This application has performed an illegal operation and will
   be shut down.

   If this problem persists, contact the program vendor.

If you click Details, you will see a message similar to this:

   MSPUB caused an invalid page fault in module MSPUB.EXE at
   0137:0057a85f.

CAUSE
=====

To recreate this problem, follow these steps:

1. Start Publisher.

2. In the Startup dialog box, click the Existing Publication
   tab.

3. Click the "Click here to open a publication not listed above"
   button.

4. Go to the PageWiz folder and click Audiolbl.pub. Click Open.

   You will see the opening screen for the Cassette Tape label
   Wizard with the Startup dialog box in the background.

5. Click on the Startup dialog box to bring it to the front.

6. Go to the Blank Page tab and click the Advanced Page Setup
   options button.

7. Click No when you are asked to save your changes.

8. Make any choice in the Page Setup dialog box and click OK. Note
   that the error message is displayed.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher for
Windows 95, version 3.0. This problem was corrected in Microsoft
Publisher 97
