SYMPTOMS
When you open Word as a normal window (not maximized and not minimized,
but showing some of the desktop behind it), the window is partially
hidden by the taskbar or Office Shortcut Bar.
CAUSE
This happens when the taskbar or Office Shortcut Bar is configured with
the following settings:
- Always On Top is selected.
-and-
- Auto Hide is not selected.
-and-
- The taskbar is located at the top or left side of the screen.
WORKAROUND
Method 1: Click the Start Bar or Office Shortcut Bar with the right
mouse button, click Properties, and clear the Always On Top
check box.
Method 2: Click the Start Bar or Office Shortcut Bar with the right
mouse button, click Properties, and select Auto Hide.
Method 3: Move the taskbar or Office Shortcut Bar to the right side of
the screen or to the bottom of the screen.
Method 4: Run Word in a maximized window.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Word
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this
problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
Base as it becomes available.
