Excel: Errors with Small Exponential Numbers

SYMPTOMS

When you enter a small exponential number in Microsoft Excel, you may actually get a number that is 2.33e-10 times the number. If you are using Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, the number may be 17 times the number.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
