SYMPTOMS

If you mark a summary task as a milestone, save the file as an MPX file, and then reopen it, the summary task will no longer be marked as a milestone.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you must re-enable the milestone setting manually. To do this, use the following steps:

Select the summary task.
On the Insert menu, click Task Information.
Click the Advanced tab.
Select the Mark Task As Milestone check box.
Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
