PUB: "Cannot Recolor Image"; Spot Color Problem with EPS Image

RESOLUTION

When you print spot color, what you really get is a separate black and white sheet for each color of ink you want to use on your page. You use these sheets to create printing plates. You can print each plate using whatever color of ink you want.

For example, you have a page that contains a text box and an EPS image. You want the text to print in black and the EPS image to print in blue.

1. Recolor the text to blue.
2. On the File menu, click Outside Printer Setup.
3. Choose Blue as the spot color.
4. Print the page.

What you will get is the following:

• A sheet labeled "Spot Color 1" that has the text on it.
• A sheet labeled "Black" that has the EPS image on it.

When you deliver this job to your printing service, tell them to print the Spot Color 1 plate in black ink and the Black plate in blue ink.
