SYMPTOMS
If you use the "Edit Story in Microsoft Word" command on a Publisher story
that contains bulleted lists, the size of the bullet characters may change
when you update the story.
CAUSE
Both Publisher and Word use bullets as part of the format of a paragraph.
You can't select size of the bullet character. Publisher uses the size of
the first character in the paragraph to calculate how large to make the
bullet. Word uses the size of the nonprinting carriage return character at
the end of the paragraph. When you edit a Publisher story in Microsoft
Word, Word recalculates the size of the bullet character and may change it.
RESOLUTION
Once you have finished editing your story in Word, you can do the
following to correct the problem:
- Select the bulleted text.
- Click the Bulleted or Numbered List button on Publisher's toolbar.
- Select the style of bullet you are currently using.
This resets the bullet size.
STATUS
This is a side-effect of using Microsoft Word to edit text created in
Microsoft Publisher. It is not based on a problem in either Microsoft Word
or Microsoft Publisher.
