Converting Lotus Notes Spreadsheet Views into Word

SYMPTOMS

Lotus Notes v 3.3 can export spreadsheet views and files to a format called "1 2 3 Worksheet." If you try to open a file in this format in one of the Word versions listed above, one of the following errors will occur:
This is not a Lotus 1-2-3 formatted document.

-or-

The file is not the right file type. (Lotus 1-2-3)

CAUSE

The Lotus Notes v 3.3 "1 2 3 Worksheet" export format exports files in Lotus 1-2-3 release 1.0A format. Word will convert only Lotus 1-2-3 release versions 2.0 through 5.0.

WORKAROUND

Use one of the following methods to import the Notes spreadsheet into Word:

Method 1:

For best results, export the spreadsheet in Lotus Notes as a Microsoft Excel worksheet. Structured Text and Tabular Text are formats also available for exporting from Notes. Word will be able to convert all three of these formats.

Method 2:

Export from Notes using the "1 2 3 Worksheet" format. Using Microsoft Excel, import the spreadsheet, save it as a Microsoft Excel workbook and then convert to Word.
