SYMPTOMS
When you run the Windows System Debugger with a Configuration Manager (.y
command) echo level of 3, debug output reports this error:
BIOS ERROR: More resource tag seen but we don't have resources to give.
CAUSE
Windows 95 does not correctly handle the case where a Plug and Play BIOS
has a vendor-defined descriptor at the end of a resource descriptor block,
after any IRQ, I/O, and DMA resource descriptors.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, you must change the BIOS so that the vendor-
defined descriptor is not located at the end of the resource descriptor
block.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will
post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
available.
