SYMPTOMS

If you start or open an 8.5-by-11-inch (letter-size) publication in Publisher and your screen resolution is 640 x 480, the publication opens with a 25-percent view percentage. In contrast, a letter size publication in Publisher 2.0 has an initial zoom percentage of 33 percent.

CAUSE

When you open a publication, Publisher zooms to the largest view percentage that will show you a full page. Because Publisher for Windows 95 requires more space to display all the toolbars than Publisher 2.0 does, there isn't much room left on a 640 x 480 screen. This means that publications open with a smaller view percentage.

RESOLUTION

You can increase the initial zoom percentage by hiding the rulers and/or toolbars. To do this:
  1. On the View menu, click Toolbars And Rulers.
  2. In the Toolbars And Rulers dialog box, clear the check boxes next to the toolbars and/or rulers you want to hide.
  3. Click OK.
This will free up more space on screen to display your publication.

NOTE: There are alternatives to every button on the Standard toolbar. Therefore, the Standard toolbar is a good choice to hide.
