SUMMARY

Becuase there is no standard symbol format used among all brokerages and exchanges, to update quotes/prices for some investment types (such as preferred stock, warrants, stock options, etc), you have to find the symbol that MSN Money uses.

MORE INFORMATION

To find the appropriate symbol to use, follow these steps:
  1. Visit the following MSN Money Web site:
  2. In Investing, locate Stocks, and then click Find Symbol.
  3. Do a search by using part of the investment name.
  4. If more than one investment is found, examine each one to determine the appropriate symbol. For more information, look up "Find Symbol" in online Help for MSN Money.

Note Money 98 and earlier have a Find Symbol button on the Details page for each investment that will take you to Find Symbol on the MSN Money Web site.
Note There is a Find Symbol button that is available when you add a new investment in Microsoft Money 2005 and later versions.
