SYMPTOMS

An absolutely positioned object (APO) placed to the left of an inline object in a Word Processing document may force the inline object beyond the document margin. No error message appears when this occurs.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

WORKAROUND

Change the inline object to an APO to avoid this problem. To change the inline object to an APO do the following:

  1. Click the object to select it.
  2. On the Format menu, click Picture (Picture/Object in Works 3.0).
  3. Click the Text Wrap tab.
  4. Click Absolute.
  5. Click OK.
You can now reposition the APO anywhere in the document using drag-and-drop.
