BUG: Visual Test 4.0 Books Online Not Available After Install

SYMPTOMS

Some installations of Visual Test fail to make Visual Test 4.0 Books Online available from the Microsoft Developer Studio.

RESOLUTION

The following steps will register Visual Test 4.0 Books Online and make it available in the current and future sessions of Microsoft Developer Studio.

  1. Start Visual Test's Microsoft Developer Studio.

  2. On the File menu, click Open.

  3. In the Directories box, change the directory to C:\Msdev\Help. Note that the drive letter and parent directory may need to be modified to meet your installation settings.

  4. Select All Files (*.*) from the List File of Type combo box.

  5. Double-click the Mst40bks.mvb filename from the File Name list box.

The Visual Test 4.0 Books Online should now be available from the Microsoft Developer Studio. To confirm that Visual Test 4.0 Books Online has correctly installed itself, choose Contents on the Help menu.

NOTE: On the Help menu, choose Open Information Title to displays dialog box that will allow you to switch from one Books Online title to another.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
