PUB3: Formatting of Pasted Text Changes

Q142740

------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== If you copy some text and paste it into the middle of another paragraph, the formatting of the pasted text may change to that of the new paragraph. For example, if you copy several words formatted for 12 point, black, Arial Bold, and paste them into the middle of a paragraph formatted for 10 point, red, Times New Roman, the pasted text will also be in red Times New Roman. CAUSE ===== This behavior in Publisher is by design. Publisher tries to integrate the pasted text into the existing text. This behavior has changed from earlier versions of Publisher to improve usability. In the majority of cases, especially if you are assembling a long publication from a variety of shorter ones, having the pasted text's format change to the container paragraph's format saves you time and work. If the copied text has very different formatting (for example, more than one font or more than one color), you will see the following message when you try to paste it: Preserve the text frame's format? Click Yes to make the new text look like the rest of the text in this frame. Click No to keep the text's original formatting. If you copy text and paste it into the beginning of a new, empty line, the text retains its original formatting. Additional query words: 3.00 3.0 w_mspub mspub pub3 pub95
