SYMPTOMS
When you try to open, print, or preview a document in Works
4.0, 4.5 or 4.5a, you receive one of the following error messages if your
printer resolution is set above 1400 dpi (dots-per-inch):
No default printer selected.
Use the Windows Control
Panel to specify your printer.
The printer driver is missing or not valid.
Run the Windows Setup program to install the printer software again.
NOTE: You may also receive these error messages if you do not have a
default printer set in Windows 95.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, use a lower print resolution
setting. To change to setting in Windows 95, do the following:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
- With your right mouse button, click the default printer,
and then click Properties.
- Click the Graphics tab.
- Change the Resolution setting to a resolution less than 1400 dpi.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.
Your Works document should now open, preview, and print without
error messages.
STATUS
Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
