Works 95 Error: "Cannot Find the Spelling Files"

RESOLUTION

1. Save your work and exit Works.
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Works 4.0 or 4.5, and then click Add/Remove.
5. Works Setup starts in Maintenance Mode. Click Add/Remove.
6. Clear the Program Files and Proofing Tools check mark boxes.
   
   NOTE: After you clear the Program Files check mark, you receive the following message:

   This component is an essential part of the application. If it is not installed, the application will not run properly.

   Click OK to clear the message.
7. Click Continue. Follow the screen instructions to remove the files and complete Setup.
8. Repeat steps 2-7 to run Works Setup and reinstall the Program Files and Proofing Tools.
   
   NOTE: In step 6 you need to re-select the Program Files and Proofing Tools options.
9. Make sure the spelling files are installed before you start Works. The files are stored in the following folder:

   C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof

   Where C is the letter of the hard drive where you installed Windows.
   
   The required files are:

         Mssp2_en.lex         208,084 bytes  7/15/95
   
         Mssp232.dll          143,360        7/15/95
   
         Msth_am.lex          670,477        7/15/95
   
         Msth32.dll            19,456        7/15/95
