XCLN: Deleted Items Don't Empty on Exit If > 1 Personal Fld

    Article ID: Q147519
    Creation Date: 25-FEB-1996
    Revision Date: 03-SEP-1996

The information in this article applies to:

    • Microsoft Exchange Windows 95 client, version 4.0
    • Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client, version 4.0
    • Microsoft Exchange Windows NT client, version 4.0

    SYMPTOMS

When you have multiple private (personal) folders, each private folder has its own Deleted Items folder. If you select "Empty the 'Deleted Items' folder upon exiting" and then exit Microsoft Exchange, only the items in the Deleted Items folder located in the PST in which mail is delivered will be deleted.

    STATUS

This behavior is by design; Microsoft Exchange only deletes the default store's Deleted Items folder.

    WORKAROUND

To delete those messages in the other folders' Deleted Items folder, select the folder and right-click the mouse button. Then choose Empty Folder.
