New User Screen Appears When Signing In Using Old Account

SYMPTOMS

When you sign in to MSN, The Microsoft Network, you may see the New User Welcome screen even though you are not using a new account.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you create a new account on a computer on which you are using an existing account.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Connect to MSN.

  2. On the View menu, click Options.

  3. Click the "Show MSN Today title on startup" check box to clear it, and then click OK.

  4. Disconnect from MSN, and then reconnect.

  5. On the View menu, click Options.

  6. Click the "Show MSN Today title on startup" check box to select it, and then click OK.

  7. Disconnect from MSN, and then reconnect.
